Recombobulation Area
Radermacher Dance Company presents, "Recombobulation Area", an evening of post-modern dance crafted by choreographer, Kelly Radermacher. "Recombobulation Area" examines our compulsion to put things together and take things a part, while paralleling microbiology with the human experience. Audiences describe Radermacher's choreography as, "restlessly, relentlessly, inventive and fascinating to watch"; and "one of the most intriguing and unique dance talents to come out of the Twin Cities". About Kelly...
Kelly Radermacher danced, created and taught in Minneapolis for 7 years and has happily called Milwaukee home for the last 3 years. In the Twin Cities, she performed and collaborated with many independent choreographers and companies most notably: April Sellers Dance Collective, Gerry Girouard, Off-Leash Area, DA Dance. She now dances for WildSpace Dance Company here in Milwaukee.
Radermacher designs her dance works around human experiences, emotions, and contemplations and is most recently inspired by concepts, imagery and processes of molecular and cellular biology and psychological states of mind. She has been described as having "black-hole dense intensity" on stage, and is known for her extremely visual, "jarring, and arresting" movement style that "defies simple categorization", and creates a unique "world" for her audience. She seeks to find the bizarre, atypical and peculiar in her movement vocabulary and is drawn to the raw beauty of decaying urban landscapes in which she frequently sets her films and/or studies in order to further inspire her choreography.
Radermacher's own dances and dances-for-the-camera have been presented at venues in MN including her evenings of work, "Spill. Moves and Movies that Stain," in 2008 at Patrick's Cabaret and "SlapDash" in 2010 at the Ritz Theater , "Nucleus" August 2012 at the Southern Theater. Here in WI she has presented her dances at UW-Madison's Margeret H'Doubler Performance Space, Kunzelmann-Esser Lofts, Danceworks, Karma, Studio Lounge, Theatre Unchained and in December 2013, "Recombobulation Area" at the Underground Collaborative. Radermacher received her Bachelor's in Dance and Anthropology from UW-Madison, her Elementary/Preprimary Education Certification from Augsburg College and is a licensed teacher birth-age 11, freelancing as a dance instructor and teaching K4 for Milwaukee Public Schools.
