Marin Baroque was formed in 2012 from an ensemble of leading period performers in the US, many of them with international careers. Their leader is Conductor and Music Director Daniel Canosa, a specialist in baroque repertoire regarded as an artist of high standards and broad, expressive range. As described in San Francisco Classical Voice, Maestro Canosa "gesturally makes a very graceful podium presence." Under his guidance, Marin Baroque musical programs have an innovative appeal to modern audiences, often combining classic baroque pieces with narrative and poetry into vibrant performances.

Marin Baroque debuted in June 2012 to a sold out performance of works by Salomono Rossi, Bach and Vivaldi.  The four concerts of Marin Baroque's first, highly successful 2012-2013 season included: choral works by Monteverdi, Buxtehude, and Telemann; a chamber concert of works by Clerambault; and its first opera performance, Handel's Acis and Galatea in a magical, outdoor theater. San Francisco Classical Voice speaks of the Marin Baroque sopranos as "intoning well-blended phrases over a fluid accompaniment" by "a tight band of talented instrumentalists".

The Marin Baroque 2013-2014 season promises to be equally exciting with performances of pieces composed by Handel during his stay in Italy, a Chamber Concert series including a Valentines Day concert of French love songs of the 17th and 18th centuries, a concert of Jewish Music of the Baroque, and an outdoor presentation of the first English opera, John Blow's Venus and Adonis.
