Learning the "Flying Flowers"- Butterflies of the Pepperwood Preserve
If you have ever wondered "what butterfly was that," this is the day for you! San Franciscan lepidopterist Liam O'Brien will give you some easy tips to identify these creatures. Following a basic presentation covering butterfly families, morphology and some interesting conservation projects, we will venture out into the field to find examples from each of the five families. Liam will demonstrate that the much-maligned butterfly net is actually a valuable field tool and not an instrument of death. It will be a catch-and-release day for all creatures involved.
