FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25 - 9pm
COMEDY, CABARET, AND COFFEE TALK with RYAN G. HINDS

The monthly cabaret/chat show returns for October, with a trick or treat bag of comedy, music and drag. This sassy evening has earned raves from The Grid ("Hinds is hilarious; makes a great case for the lost art of cabaret in Toronto. His show made me giddy!" - Paul Aguirre-Livingston) and Indecent Xposure ("a one-of-a-kind side-splitting spectacle. Hinds is clever, comical and musically well-endowed and the coffee talk element of his show brings a unique sense of intimacy" - Chantal Da Silva). This month, Hinds welcomes:

Featuring

ELLIOTT LORAN
CARLA COLLINS
KING FLARE

Elliott Loran has been playing piano for more than 20 years.  A west coast native and graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts, he's appeared in theaters across the country (most notably in the Canadian smash hit musical Ride the Cyclone (earning a Toronto Theatre Critics Award and a BroadwayWorld.com Award for best supporting actor in a musical). He is also an Artistic Associate with SNAFU Theatre, where he helped create their productions of Pretty Little Instincts and The Ginger Ninjas. Currently he hosts and produces the monthly variety show Swinging Wingding at Wild Indigo Martini Bar.

King Flare is the handsome, charming, and modest monarch of the Yes-Men, Toronto's premiere drag king house.  With them and solo, he has performed at every queer venue in Toronto (including Buddies in Bad Times, The Gladstone, and The Flying Beaver).  His long-running running Hallowe'en show "Drag You to Hell"  became an annual audience favorite,  and featured many of Toronto's best queens, kings, and performance artists.  This year he appeared at Capital Pride in Ottawa, and is proud to have helped out together the very first Thunder Bay Pride in 2011.

Carla Collins is an award-winning comedian, actress, tv host, and writer.  A gifted comic, she has been hailed by Canadian press as "Canada's Tina Fey" and "The Queen of Comedy" and she performs all over the US and Canada.  Carla's CTV Comedy Now special "The Wonder Bra Years" won the gold award at the Houston Comedy Festival and she has performed at Just for Laughs, the Los Angeles Comedy Festival, and the Vancouver Comedy Festival.  A regular at Hollywood Improv, she has appeared on just about every Canadian TV show including "Entertainment Tonight", "Degrassi:The Next Generation", "Paradise Falls" as well as her own shows "Chez Carla" and "Carlawood". As a multi-disciplinary performance artist, Ryan G. Hinds has worked alongside artists such as Kathy Griffin, Douglas Coupland, Liza Minnelli, Debbie Reynolds, Gregory Hines, and Salome Bey.  This year, he danced in MSM for lemonTree creations at Toronto Fringe Festival and performed two sold-out headlining engagements at Just For Laughs in Montreal.  In 2012, Ryan made his Brazilian cabaret debut, performing in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and followed it up with the multi-artist revue DISCO DOWN for Pride Toronto.   He also made his Summerworks debut with the play "Dutchman" for Lemontree/Obsidian with Sabryn Rock, and performed in the critically acclaimed Nuit Blanche installation "Museum of the Rapture".   Ryan's previous Nuit Blanche creation, 2007's End of the Party Party (in collaboration with Will Munro and Ina unt Ina) set a single-night attendance record for the Art Gallery of Ontario.  His theatre work includes Sky Gilbert's Dora-nominated "The Bewitching of Max Gunther" at Passe Muraille, De Colores Festival of New Works, Greta in "Bent" at Hart House and a 15-year association with Buddies in Bad Times (highlights include "Tightrope" with Montreal's 2Boys.tv, three consecutive years in Rhubarb Festival, "P'artiste" with The Scandelles, "Half-Cocked",  his own show "Glitter all the Way!",  and 2 years as co-curator of ART ATTACK,  Buddies' annual fundraiser). Notably, he is one of only a few people to have been in both the movie version (as a hed-head) and a stage production (as Hedwig) of Hedwig & the Angry Inch.
