An Evening with Mitch Albom
Kepler's Arts & Lectures presents: An Evening with Mitch Albom
Wednesday, November 20, 7:00 p.m.
Kepler's Books 1010 El Camino Real Menlo Park, Ca 94025
"A writer with soul," (Los Angeles Times), Mitch Albom has carved out a special place among contemporary authors with such beloved New York Times bestsellers as Tuesdays with Morrie, For One More Day and The Five People You Meet in Heaven. His new book, The First Phone Call from Heaven, the story of a small Midwestern town whose residents begin to get phone calls from the departed, is equal parts mystery, love story, and an allegory about the power of belief.
Woven throughout is the equally compelling, parallel story of Alexander Graham Bell and the invention of the telephone, which forever changed the way we connect with those we love.
Mitch Albom's books have collectively sold over 33 million copies worldwide; have been published in forty-one territories and in forty-two languages around the world; and have been made into Emmy Award-winning and critically-acclaimed television movies. An internationally renowned and best-selling author, journalist, screenwriter, playwright, and broadcaster, Albom is also an ardent philanthropist who has founded six charities for the needy and disenfranchised, many in the metropolitan Detroit area. He also operates an orphanage in Port Au Prince, Haiti. His many honors include being named National Hospice Organization's Man of the Year, the Red Smith Award for lifetime achievement in sportswriting, and a recent induction into the Sportswriters Hall of Fame.
"Think of Mitch Albom as the Babe Ruth of popular literature, hitting the ball out of the park every time he's at bat," says Time magazine.
