11 year-old Cellist Eiline Tai will be presenting a recital in a private home in Laguna Beach, February 29, 2020. She will be performing the first movement of the Dvorak Cello Concerto, 7 variations for Cello and Piano by Beethoven, and more.
Eiline plays with the sensitivity and technical prowess of a accomplished cellist, and her interpretations of the music have the maturity of a professional musician more than twice her age. You will be enthralled and enchanted to hear and watch her play!
Eiline began playing cello at age 5, and made her first public performance at Carnegie Hall at age 7. In 2019, at age 10, she won the Southern California Philharmonic Young Artist Competition (prodigy category), and performed the demanding last movement of the Elgar Cello Concerto with the orchestra. Eiline is pursuing a career as a professional cellist.
Eiline will be accompanied by accomplished pianist and composer, Kevin Weed, who will be performing solo piano works as well, and there will be a special appearance by violinist Jessica Haddy, concertmaster for the Southern California Philharmonic Orchestra.
The evening begins at 5:00 pm, as guests arrive to watch the sunset and enjoy the ocean views. Eiline will begin her recital at approximately 5:45. There will be a short intermission, and the concert will concluded at 7:00.
The House, a newly constructed Mid-Century Modern inspired design by architect David M. Parker, rests high in the hills of north Laguna Beach, with sweeping views of the ocean and Catalina Island.
Space is limited to no more than 30 guests. Formal dress is required. Wine and light refreshments will be served.
