No Divas 2nd Annual Fall Concert
No Divas (formerly Release the Sirens) is putting the polish on its second annual Fall concert at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center, Saturday, November 2, 2013. This emerging eight-voice ensemble delivers a rounded handful of great tunes from around the world and through the centuries. From show tunes to rock to renaissance to 40's swing to African to opera to shape note to Native American to jazz standards there's plenty of something for everyone.
This is the latest offering from award-winning conductor and arranger and wannabe stand up comic, Josh Gitomer. Most folks know Josh as the founder and director of Mount Madonna Choir and Pacific Voices. He thought he had safely retired a few years back, but at the urging of friends and fans, he has once more hoisted the baton. But rather than the big choirs of the past, this time Josh has honed it down to a well blended, close knit company of satin voices serving up a wide-ranging but seamless 21-song repertoire.
You will be treated to the voices of Katie LeBaron, Sarah Riddick, Nicole Benjamin, Edy Rhodes, Antonina Hines, Carolyn Jackson, Vivian Moutafian, and Laura Schanzer all soloists in their own right, but not a diva in the group! We'll be joined by Jay Jackson on piano, Al Globus on guitar, and Eric Braun on percussion, plus a few surprise guest artists.
Come share the evening with us!
