Featuring the double-chorus Renaissance mass "Missa Hodie Christus natus est" by Palestrina, as well as Ars Novas renowned eclectic mix of holiday repertoire in fresh arrangements.

Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina  (c. 1525  2 February 1594) was an Italian Renaissance composer of sacred music and the best-known 16th-century representative of the Roman School of musical composition. His legacy and impact on sacred music worldwide is unrivaled. He was recognized as a master craftsman whose music composers of all ages have attempted to emulate. He has been called not only the prince and father of music but also the savior of church music."  J.S. Bach studied and hand-copied Palestrina's first book of Masses, and in 1742 wrote his own adaption of the Kyrie and Gloria of the "Missa sine nomine."

His prolific output includes over 300 motets and 105 mass settings. His eight-voice Christmas mass "Hodie Christus natus est" contains double choir effects, giving the work it a grand and monumental sound.

Ars Nova Singers is recognized as a leading interpreter of modern music, and the program will include contemporary works by Stephen Paulus, Philip Stopford, John La Montaine, Michael Elgin, and others. Traditional carols in fresh arrangements will also be performed.

Special guest instrumentalist is John McColley, harp.
