Illusionoid and Chinese Ballroom (SF Improv Festival 2013)
Unscripted sci-fi comedy in the style of old time radio! Illusionoid blends improv, technology, and imagination to bring you stories in the style of The Twilight Zone or X Minus One. In the distant future, humanity has its last stand against the tyrant computer ILLUSIONOID. A lone survivor sends messages backwards through time in hopes that he can provide a warning of the danger to come. Will you heed his warnings? Open your ears and hone your senses, for without immediate action, none can escape the future that is ILLUSIONOID.
On a shivery summer night five years ago, in a basement-level dance studio accented by Asian decor, Chinese Ballroom was born. Comprised of alums of Awkward Silence, the nationally-renowned college improv team, Chinese Ballroom has performed long and short-form improv all over the Bay Area, including sold out shows at San Francisco's Phoenix Theatre, corporate events, and at a karaoke bar we're pretty sure was a front for organized crime. We're a mix of playwrights, stand-ups, actors and most of all, total weirdos. More at chineseballroomimprov.com.
