Benefit Concert for Monterey Jazz Festival Education Program and Big Sur Land Trust Youth Camps

Hike to the Point under the light of the full moon with Dave Douglas. One of the most significant figures in jazz according to the Pittsburgh Tribune, Dave Douglas and his Quintet will perform a special concert to benefit the Big Sur Land Trust youth camps and Monterey Jazz Festival Education Programs.
Big Sur Land Trust, in 2013, started their first nature camps at Glen Deven Ranch, serving kids who rarely have such opportunities, to enrich their lives through the healing powers of nature and music. This summer BSLT served 136 kids from First Tee, CHISPA, YMCA South County, Girls Inc. and YOSAL
Monterey Jazz Festival is devoted to education by presenting year-round local, regional, national, and international programs. Schools in Monterey County have been the benefactors of the Festival's educational efforts through the Traveling Clinicians Program, Summer Jazz Camp, Monterey County All-Star Bands, Next Generation Jazz Festival, Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, and Artist in Residence program.

Dave Douglas, the 2013 Monterey Jazz Festival Showcase Artist, is widely regarded as the most prolific and original trumpeter-composer of his generation. He has released more than 30 recordings since 1993. His unique contributions to improvised music have earned prestigious awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, Aaron Copland Award, two GRAMMY nominations, and Trumpeter, Composer and Jazz Artist of the Year Awards from the Jazz Journalists Association, DownBeat, JazzTimes, and many others.
