The Social Action teams of Bet Alef Meditative Synagogue and Seattle First Baptist Church are hosting 2 showings of the award winning film: A Place at the Table. These faith-based hosted programs are public forums and will be secular in content and nature.

Following the film: Discussion will focus on local and national advocacy strategies for legislation to alleviate hunger, elevated to the spotlight recently with the approval of the farm bill without food stamp aid by the U.S. House of Representatives.

On August 17th, Rev. Paul Benz, Director of Legislative Affairs with Faith Action Network will lead the discussion.
The August 25th program will feature Ms. Christina Wong, Public Policy Manager with Northwest Harvest and Co-Chair for the Anti-Hunger and Nutrition Coalition.

This incredible documentary, narrated by Jeff Bridges, follows the struggles of three individuals as they deal with the challenge of food insecurity. Barbie - a single mother in Philadelphia, Rosie - a fifth grader in Colorado, and Tremonica - a Mississippi second-grader.

Directors Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush explore the issue of hunger in America and leave us with the knowledge that we can solve the problem of hunger if the American public decides that making healthy food available and affordable is in the best interest of us all.
