The DanceWright Project 5th Anniversary Season
The DanceWright Project celebrates its 5th Season -- five years of encouraging artistic collaborations to give the widest variety of choreographers an opportunity to show their work. This year, The DanceWright Project will premiere two new works. Ladies in Waiting is a slice-of-life meditation on women's friendship, in the context on a stylized court life. Muse is a homage to a recently deceased friend, Fay Sutton, a bohemian world-traveler who, near the end of her life, questioned her choice to "drop out." Muse will feature music by Ben Joudvalkis, best known for his musical contribution to the recent collaboration between Alonzo King LINES Ballet and Hubbard Street Dance and for his band, Battlehooch. In addition, The DanceWright Project will reprise an earlier work, Savannah Scene, a fanciful portrayal of the life of early man in the African grasslands. The DanceWright Project 5th Anniversary Season will also feature a number of guest artists. Hai Yan Jackson and Dancers will bring her brand of Classical Chinese Dance with a contemporary edge. DAC PAC and Dance Attack, two youth dance groups from the South Bay and a favorite at DanceWright Project shows, will make an appearance. Up and coming contemporary dance company, Cardinalidae, and the respected Brazilian choreographer, Paco Gomes,will also bring new works.
