UWAC's "Empowering Women," a 36-Hour Play Festival
UWAC's "Empowering Women" benefit will showcase the talents of over 40 local female theatre professionals (more than 35 of whom are members of Actor's Equity Association, the theatre actor and stage manager union).
Produced by the Union Women Actor's Coalition, the play festival will include the writing, directing, rehearsal and performance of six brand new plays, each inspired by the theme "Empowering Women"- and it will all happen in just 36 hours!
The benefit is being held to support SF Safehouse, a unique residential program (one of five in the United States) that provides women leaving prostitution with up to 18 months of housing and a continuum of care and resources, including medical and mental health services, counseling and therapeutic services, and social support with a goal of healing mind, body and soul, and creating dynamic and empowered individuals. www.sfsafehouse.org
