First Annual Fremont BBQ Extravaganza
Support is Growing for the Fremont BBQ Extravaganza, June 2nd to Benefit the 25th Annual Fremont Solstice Parade
New Sponsors, Four Roses Bourbon and Naked Juice, show their Neighborhood Spirit with Funding for this All-Day Free Festival!
May 28, 2013 (Seattle) The Fremont BBQ Extravaganza, a free festival and fundraiser featuring Seattle's largest BBQ competition, will be held this Sunday, June 2nd, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the corner of Dayton Ave. and 36th Street.
The BBQ competition is sanctioned by the Northwest BBQ Association and will include 12 teams cooking up their best meat to win $2000 in prize money and a BBQ Smoker. This is serious mouth watering stuff so if watching isn't enough for you, Pete's Fremont FirePit and Roxy's Diner will be serving up some smoked favorites at the festival to satiate those taste buds and support the Parade.
BBQ Judging will occur in The Backdoor where, simultaneously, the Over-21 Crowd can participate in tasting beers from 5 local breweries. From 11 AM until 5 PM, for a $20 ticket, each of 5 breweries will present 4-oz tastings of two of their best beers. Proceeds will benefit the Fremont Arts Council Solstice Parade.
Back outside, BBQ demonstrations including how to BBQ shrimp, various meats, and even Pizza will be ongoing. See how the experts do it! Taste hot-off-the-grill free samples, enjoy free BBQ sauce tastings from many local companies, and feast your eyes on a whole-hog pig roast.
Family friendly contests and games will include a mini-pancake eating contest, bagel ring toss, and a dog fashion show all with special prizes!
The outdoor music stage will be featuring 5 local Bands from bluegrass to rockabilly. Don't miss out on hearing Moonshine & Turpentine, Back Door Apostles, Honky Tonkers, Boulevard Park and The Purrs. Kick up your feet and dance a bit outside. Summer is here!!
