Meander's Kitchen and Miss Cherry Tart are tickled pink, purple, and every other color of the rainbow to present "You Are Loved: A Big Gay Cabaret" a benefit for two amazing queer youth organizations: Camp Ten Trees and Queer Rock Camp.
Prepare to get yer socks Shocked and yer knickers dazzled by an amazing cast of characters... Queer Burlesque, Drag, Song and Dance, Comedy, and all the Bells and Whistles, folks. You Are Loved! And by the time you leave, you'll feel warmed all the way down to your cockles.

Um. Holy crap. Why is this in some weird diner in White Center again?
Well, now that's a funny one. Vera over at Village Green Perennial Nursery offered Meander's Kitchen the chance to host a performance by Michelle Shocked, which, for a wee little breakfast joint run by a lady who likes ladies with radical politics, sounded like the bees knees. Vera and Miranda were both pretty much horrified by Ms. Shocked's recent antics at her show in San Francisco, however, and summarily cancelled.
Miss Cherry Tart and Miranda in the midst of putting together a burlesque and cabaret already something with a sexy mashup of our queer DIY punk ideals and a fondness for the subculture of the 1920's. The answer seemed clear. We shifted just a touch, and rescheduled.
And this is a benefit? Not just your garden variety awesome, glitter studded celebration of life and love? Why is that?
Because it's really fucking important that queer kids are able to grow up without hating themselves or feeling the need to live in denial. So we want to use this fleeting wisp of press and publicity to help stack some dollar bills for organizations that spend every day taking care of the kids in our Family. Because that shit is necessary. Because You Are Loved!
***Accessibility Details: Wheelchair accessible with street parking. Scent-free: we have some performers with chemical sensitivity, so please hold off on the perfume & highly scented products. Because the show includes a performance art, we may be able to accommodate the visually impaired. If there is a need for an ASL interpreter, let us know and we will try to find a volunteer.
