Mulberry Concerts: "Etudes"
Salle Pleyel
Chicago, IL
Share this event:

Kenneth Grigg, piano, performs a spectacular concert in an intimate setting. Mr. Grigg's unusual style emphasizes fluid virtuosity, beauty and variety of tone, and the aesthetic and emotional response of each listener in his audience.

"Etude," literally "study" in French, summons thoughts of exercises such as Czerny, Hanon, Sevcik, and other pedagogical staples. Etudes by great composers, however, are for virtuosi with finished techniques, and are everything but teaching pieces. Join us for twenty-three amazing artworks you'd never associate with the word "study."

Sunday, November 18, 2018, 7:15 PM: "Etudes"
  • Liszt, Feux follets, Harmonies du soir, La campanella
  • Thomson, Parallel Chords (Tango), Tenor Lead (Madrigal), Ragtime Bass
  • Schulhoff, Cinq Etudes de Jazz (Charleston, Blues, Chanson, Tango, Toccata sur "Kitten on the Keys"
  • Debussy, Douze Etudes

All Mulberry Concerts are limited-seating events in our gracious Prairie Style home. Tickets include a post-concert wine and dessert reception.
