Conduit presents Merge Dance Project from Ohio featuring Oregon native Sandra Mathern (the twin sister of choreographer and director of Conduit Dance, Tere Mathern), whose collaborative work is characterized by real-time composition, video and interactive media and inquisitive movement born of natural forces acting on the body.

Dancers Rebecca Bryant of Lower Left Performance Collective and Leslie Scates, Houston, TX and musician/composer Don Nichols along with Sandra Mathern form Merge Dance Project who will perform Swimming in Green, an evening length work for three dancers, video and live music that investigates ideas about place, identity and meaning.

Fresh from residencies at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida and the Camac Centre D'Art in France, Swimming uses video as a means for documenting place through textures, light and form. Rich images of natural textures, forms and bodies carefully placed are choreographed in lush patterns while the dance plays simultaneously.
