A Streetcar Named Desire | April 17 | Maine Humanities Council
The Maine Humanities Council is bringing the nationally acclaimed theater company Outside the Wire back to Maine to lead a community conversation about domestic violence. In keeping with Outside the Wire's mission to promote thoughtful discussion of critical social issues, the performance will be in three parts: a dramatic reading of scenes from A Streetcar Named Desire; reactions from a panel of community members representing different perspectives on the issue (for example, family members, law enforcement, advocates, and health care providers); and a facilitated town meeting-style discussion with the audience. Please join us for a unique opportunity to explore this critical issue and learn more about what you can do.
Please note: Some may find events in the two scenes read by the actors disturbing. This is recommended for mature audiences.
