Birds 2013

Birds2013 is a live performance, featuring actors reading from a script, which has been collaged together from Aristophanes' classical comedy Birds, Tim Berners Lee's Weaving the Web, the Twitter feed of jewellery company Tatty Devine, and a selection of academic articles concerning the history of the development of computer technology. The protagonists of Aristophanes' Birds set out to build a utopian city called Cloud Cuckoo Land. Birds2013 connects aspects of the classical story with the history of the Internet to explore the utopian ideals held by its founders and question the extent of the success of those ambitions.

Sets and stage design will be constructed by artists Samara Scott and Jesse Wine, the performance will be accompanied by a live soundtrack by Das Hund (artists Samuel Levack and Jennifer Lewandowski.) The show will be accompanied by a publication that will include an introduction by Daniel Kelly, the script and a text by Elizabeth Johnson.
