Siempre en mi corazón / Always in My Heart
A gala concert featuring the songs of Ernesto Lecuona, on the 70th anniversary year of his death. Cuba's most prolific composer, Lecuona wrote over 600 pieces, and his catalogue spans several genres, including piano pieces, songs, zarzuelas, movie scores, and works for piano and orchestra. Also an outstanding pianist, his influence on Latin American music cannot be understated. Lecuona died in exile in 1963. This commemorative gala, under the artistic direction of maestro Pablo Zinger, will include many of his most famous songs, including romantic arias, ritmos antiguos, pregones, boleros, congas and rumbas, as well as lesser known pieces, such as his musicalization of poems by José Martí and Juana de Ibarbourou.
