Aswat Tribute to Umm Kulthum & Fairuz
In celebration of women in Arab music, Zawaya presents the Bay Area's premier Arab music ensemble, Aswat, in a concert that pays tribute to two of the Arab world's premier female musical legends: "The Star of East", Umm Kulthum (1898/1904-1975), and "The Jewel of Lebanon", Fairuz (born 1935).
The program exclusively and strictly presents only music from Umm Kulthum and Fairuz, and equal attention is given to the music of both. The program features such songs as Umm Kulthum's "Ansak" and Fairuz's "Muwashshahat" in masterful arrangements.

Tickets will be available at the door for $5 more than the online price, and subject to availability. Since we expect to sell out, we advise you buy tickets online.
Students who show a valid, current student ID and their $25 ticket will receive a $10 refund on the day of the event itself.
