2013 Austin Smoke Experiment Cookoff
On the heels of a successful 15-city tour in 2012, the Food Experiments, the nation's leading cook-off organization, is returning to Austin for the ultimate cookoff sponsored by Brooklyn Brewery. Austin is one of our select cities we'll be visiting this year. This year, our theme revolves around one of Texas' best local culinary traditions, SMOKE! The Austin Smoke Experiment cookoff will take place on March 10, 2013 at Clive Bar from 1-4PM. Dishes will range from traditional smoked meats to, dare I say it, smoked vegetables or smoked ice cream!? Let the Experimenting begin.
The Experiment will host 25 local amateur chefs who have prepared a unique creation incorporating smoke into their dish. Samples will be served to the 350 food enthusiasts in attendance as well as celebrity judges, and everyone will then have an opportunity to choose which "cheftestant" will gain the ultimate culinary bragging rights. Victory has never tasted so good!
Judges Include:
-Aaron and Stacy Franklin Owners of the famous Franklin BBQ
-Claudia Alarcon Mexican Cuisine Luminary and Food Writer for The Austin Chronicle and Zagats.com
-Virginia Wood Longtime Austin Chronicle Food Editor
-Addie Broyles Food Writer for the Austin-Statesman and Relish 360
