Romeo and Juliet
"Two households, both alike in dignity."
Why do we make the choices that we make? Where do those choices lead? The Nine Worthies' Theatre's production of Romeo and Juliet wants to explore these options. What leads Romeo to fall so heavily in love with Juliet? Why does Juliet decided to marry Romeo so quickly? Put into a modern context, this iconic love story changes the meaning. Romeo is an 18 year old kid in a modern world raised by a single mother, and Juliet is a 14 year old girl who's single father uses her as a trophy. Where do the choices they make throughout the play lead them? We at the Nine Worthies' Theatre believe that all the consequences in this show could have been prevented. Romeo and Juliet may be the "greatest love story ever told" - but it is also a cautionary tale of the choices we make and their consequences.
