Beethoven Ninth Season Finale
The Metro Chamber Orchestra closes its tenth anniversary season with a program that includes music by Deon Price, CPE Bach and Beethoven at the landmark church of St. Anne and the Holy Trinity, 157 Montague Street, Brooklyn. Amanda Lo, one of America's most gifted young violinists, will perform the world premiere of Dion Price's violin concerto. This exciting piece, with its heavy jazz influences, continues the Metro Chamber Orchestra's tradition of presenting new music. Italian flute virtuoso Maria Augusta Pannunzi , who recently received her doctorate in performance from the prestigious Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, joins Maestro Nuzzo and the MCO in CPE Bach's dizzying Concerto in d minor. What better way to close the first decade of musical excellence than with the Metro Chamber Orchestra and the Brooklyn Conservatory Chorale, joined by soloists Therese Panicali and Gregory Sheppard in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D major 'Choral'. Additional soloists adn chorus to be announced. Annually voted the most popular piece of classical music of all time, the symphony with its final Ode to Joy, speaks to the universal brotherhood, and is the perfect exclamation point to conclude the first decade of Metro's history.
