BLINDSIDED starring Jeannette Rizzi
Jeannette Rizzi was raised by parents of the cloth-- a former monk and a former nun, the former of which yearned to live on a farm, despite the fact that he and his wife were raised in Brooklyn and had zero experience with rural living. They settled in Florida, in a small town not exactly known for its culture and tolerance of people even slightly different from them. Jeannette, olive skinned and kinky haired, wasn't exactly status quo for Alachua.
But Jeannette found her place there; she became an elite athlete and shared an amazing relationship with her best friend Katie. When, seemingly out of nowhere, Katie took her own life Jeannette's world was unequivocally changed. Battling her own suicidal thoughts, extreme anxiety and depression, Jeannette found solace in Flash, her tiny dog, through which Jeannette would quite literally speak.
Blindsided takes its audience on a journey through Jeannette's teenage years through adulthood. And while there are emotionally heavy parts throughout, Blindsided is ultimately a hopeful show about love and friendship.
**proceeds of the show will be given to a local mental health charity in Los Angeles.
