Flamenco Fuego
TICKETS SOLD AT THE DOOR WHILE AVAILABLE. Quiero Flamenco was created to bring the art of Flamenco to the Inland Northwest. Flamenco, born from the heart of Andalucia, is a complex and passionate art form. Passion, romance, heartache, and pain are all emotions that are found in this medium.

Flamenco Fuego is comprised of artists who have studied and lived Flamenco and want to share it at its purist and most complex.

Artist Bios:

Jesus Montoya: Jesus Montoya is from Seville, Spain.  Born into the one of the oldest Gypsy families.   Jesus was steeped in flamenco purity and power, earning him the name 'El Rey Del Fandangos Grande' at age 7 and by age 9 he had started his professional singing career.By age 13, started to tour with various professional companies.

He was the featured singer for the legendary Fernanda Romero, Isabel Vargas, Andres Marin, Pepe Rios, La Cipri & Manuela Salazar, Juan Ogalla, Alejandro Granados, Isabel Lopez,  Ciro, Juaquin Ruiz, Estrella Moreno, La Truco, Carmela Greco, Pepa Montes, Manolete, Jose Galvan and many more.

An accomplished recording artist as well, including CDs of original compositions as well as collaborations with various world class artists, Jesus has released his 8th CD with musical genius Osvaldo Golijov and Duetsche Grammophon which featured him as the voice of Ruiz Alonzo. The incredibly staged production and recording of "AINADAMAR" "FOUNTAIN OF TEARS" was a double winner of the 2007 Grammy Awards for "BEST CLASSICAL CONTEMPORARY COMPOSITION" and"BEST OPERA RECORDING" for How I Got My Start. Jesus has also appeared in films such as "SOMBRA DEL SOL," "SOLEDAD," and "GYPSY GIRL" and recently performed at the 2017 Latin Grammys.

Adriana Maresma Fois: The unique fire and elegance of Adriana Maresma Fois are what have marked her style and personality as a professional Spanish flamenco dancer. Her impassioned performances and choreographies have conquered stages all over the world.

Adriana received her Bachelors Degree in Photography and Dance from the University of New Mexico (USA) with recogized professors Eva Enciñias Sandoval and Pablo Rodarte, and made her debut at the Festival  Flamenco Internaciónal de Albuquerque dancing with José Greco.  Her career launched when she entered the renowned company of María Benitez, touring throughout the USA, with seasonal performances at The Joyce Theatre in New York City and the Metropolitan Opera.

In 1998, Adriana had a wonderful opportunity to become a soloist with Flamencos Enroute, the prominent, contemporary flamenco dance company in Switzerland, directed by Brigitta L. Merki.  Adriana toured with Flamenco Enroute throughout Europe and Asia from 1998  2008. As a member of the company, she was invited to choreograph and be a soloist  for the opera Carmen at the Opera DAvenches in Switzerland.  As a choreographer, Adrianas  La Puerta de Mi Sangre was awarded  First Prize and Best Stylization in the Bento International Dance Festival in Brazil.

Adriana has continued growing as a professional. Studying in Madrid, Sevilla and Jerez, where she resides with her husband, Juan A. Gomez, flamenco guitarist. She currently collaborates with various international musicians, and regularly tours with her own company, AMFlamenco Danza Company.

Joaquin Gallegos: Joaquin was born on July 25th, 1978 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He comes from a family of artists and musicians, starting music studies at age 7 and playing the guitar at 9 years old. Joaquin has made Andalucia his second home having spent several years living, studying and performing there and in the United States as well as in Latin America. He lived among gypsy clans in Sacromonte, Granada, learning the art of accompanying cante and baile. Some of Joaquins most important maestros have been Chuscales, Manolo Sanlucar, El Viejin, Emilio Maya and Anton Jimenez. Joaquin won 1st prize at the 2002 EXPO Flamenco Competition at the Festival Flamenco Internacional de Albuquerque and was a finalist at the 2007 II Concurso Internacional Nino Ricardo de Murcia. His first album, La Jornada, was released in 2005 and Joaquin has recorded on many artists albums and toured with Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, EntreFlamenco and as a solo artist. His second album, Nuevos Comienzos, was released in 2015 and has received critical acclaim for its composition, innovation, and technical virtuosity. His fluid technical expression, deep rhythmic sensibility and prolific composing abilities have made Joaquin a sought after guitarist for solo performances, accompaniment for flamenco artists such as Antonio Granjero, Lakshmi Basile, and Nino de los Reyes, jazz, world and soul music collaborations, and as composer of soundtracks for films.

Amelia Moore: Amelia began teaching and dancing professionally at the age of 17 as a Bellydancer with World Music and Dance group Children of the Revolution. Under the tutelage of her dance mentor Susan Evans, she studied stagecraft, choreography and the dramatic arts, all of which led her to develop her own dance studio and performing company from 2000-2005. Meanwhile, onstage with Eric & Encarnacion from Children of the Revolution and Flamenco de Raiz, she was learning the complex rhythmic accompaniment of palmas while slowly falling in love with Flamenco.  Since 2006 she has devoted herself to the art of Flamenco. In addition to her ongoing studies with her main teacher and inspiration Encarnacion La Paloma, she has been influenced by her studies with Maria Bermudez Sara de Luis and Cihtli Ocampo, and has studied regularly and intensively with Andres Pena and Pastora Galvan, among others. A lifelong student, she continues to travel often to study and be inspired by great artists of Flamenco. With a degree in Spanish and Dance from the University of Washington and 20 years of teaching experience, she is passionate about teaching and delights in awakening a love and freedom of movement in her students.

Monica Mota: Monica started dancing professionally as a ballet dancer with the New Mexico Ballet Company and as a modern dancer with the Bill Evans Dance Company.  When she was nineteen she attended her first Flamenco class and found her love.  She has performed as a soloist for the Denver Flamenco Fantasy Dance Theatre, Oleaje Flamenco of Seattle, Chicas Patas of Spokane, Flamenco Denver, Solo Flamenco of Portland and Underground Flamenco of Denver. Additionally, Monica has performed her own solo choreography at On the Boards in Seattle.
Monica has trained under Sara de Luis of Pacific Northwest Ballet. She was fortunate to teach at the Pacific Northwest Ballet summer academy and coach Seattle Opera dancers.  She has studied Flamenco in Granada, Spain and has also studied with Spanish performers such as Manuel Linan, Eva La Yerbabuena, Manuela Carrasco, Olga Pericet, Fuensanta La Moneta, Concha Jareno, El Torombo, Pastora Galvan and Domingo Ortega. Prior to her studies in Spain, Monica studied Flamenco with Pablo Rodarte and Marisol and Joaquin Encinias of the National Institute of Flamenco.
Monica obtained her B.A. in Dance from the University of New Mexico and a Masters in Teaching from Whitworth University.
