Moviesauce Film Festival
Movie...sauce? Yes, Moviesauce! That is the name of the one and only international film festival in Shreveport, LA. Why is it so? Because Evan Falbaum and Hunter Carter made it that way when they started Moviesauce back in 2005 as an independent student film festival in place of the canceled Mosaic Film Festival at Caddo Magnet High School. The fest was a one night film party that screened 20 local student films to a crowd of 150 at Fairfield Studios (it is highly suspected that many came for the free pizza and drinks). With that kind of success, Evan and Hunter decided to make their fest an annual event and the following year hosted it at the University Center at LSUS. The local student content was dropped in favor of international features and shorts of which the boys received well over 100, which was then narrowed down to 25 official selections (or keepers). The pizza and drinks were also dropped, but coloring books were added and the people cheered. The event was also extended over the course of three days, and so the people cheered some more. Evan and Hunter also cheered when the winner for best narrative short at their fest went on to be nominated for an Oscar, thus gaining them massive bragging rights (seriously, they just wont shut up about it). Now in its sweet 3rd year, Moviesauce will be hosted at the brand new Robinson Film Center which is probably the best thing to happen to Moviesauce since the last sentence. Not convinced? Then come and see for yourself on May 30th. We triple dog dare you.
