Fierce Play Performance Series
Now! Now? Now. by Cecilia Palmtag In the Blink by David Stein Moment to Moment by Adam Sussman
What makes a play FIERCE? Bursts of creative genius and wild exploration! Working at the collision of DARING and DISCIPLINE! PLAY, RIGOUR, MYSTERY and the spirit of YES! NOW!
Ragged Wing's Core Ensemble will lead the creation of these short plays in a condensed time-frame of fourteen days. Why work under the gun? It's theatrical athleticism! This work raises the energy and creates crackling, electric performances. Fierce Play is an invitation to practice the power of GO. To bang the words: RAW and POLISHED together and make the sparks fly! What holds it together? Our season theme: It's About Time.
Now! Now? Now. by Cecilia Palmtag In an endless stream of Past and Future what is the window into experience? Now! Do your expectations meet up with Now? Structured episodically this piece will examine the unique filter we each have that colors our world, and consider what experience would be like if we could step into Now.
Moment to Moment by Adam Sussman A playwright, condemned to death by an authoritarian regime, tries to finish his play about a prose writer who is visited by murderous conspirators. A prose writer tries to finish a short story about a playwright condemned to death by an authoritarian regime, but is interrupted by visitors whom he fears want to kill him. A heady Mobius strip of a play inspired by a Borges story that tackles dreams, fate, time, and the limits of knowledge.
In the Blink by David Stein When a young narcoleptic on her graduation day steps into a wrinkle in the fabric of space and time called the Blink, a stop gap world where time stands still, a father-daughter bond is put to the test, and very nature of reality is questioned.
