Isthmus Green Day
Isthmus Green Day is an expo/revival meeting designed to help people in our community become a little greener ... and have fun doing it. Come enjoy a wide variety of fun, informative and entertaining eco-friendly activities.
Kenneth Brown, star of HGTV reDesign, will keynote the celebration. Also speaking is restaurateur Nora Pouillon, owner of Restaurant Nora in Washington D.C, the first organic certified restaurant in the nation. Sam Breidenbach, owner of TDS Custom Construction, and Jon Foley, founder and Director of the Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment (SAGE) at the University of Wisconsin, will respectively discuss sustainable building and the effects of global warming regionally and globally. Susan Schmitz, president of Downtown Madison, Inc., will share with the audience how to commute via bicycle.
Isthmus Green Day will include a performance by the Kissers, Madison's self-proclaimed sustainable ban, an eco-friendly fashion show courtesy of Nadurtha Organics, indoor kite flying courtesy of Craig Wilson and Aerial Kite Photography, a bicycle valet sponsored by Saris and the Wisconsin Bicycle Federation, an all-day long children's area sponsored by the Madison Children's Museum and Aldo Leopold Nature Center, and the winners of Isthmus own Get Green Challenge competition sponsored by WKOW and Madison's CW.
For those more interested in fuel-efficient transportation, Isthmus Green Day will feature a bicycle path sponsored by Schwinn, a Madison Metro Hybrid bus, an electric car and Toyota's never before seen hydrogen hybrid vehicles.
Green Day attendees can also attend several breakout sessions and visit over 100 booths in a variety of categories, ranging from Home & Garden, Health, Beauty & Fitness, Recreation, Food, Transportation and Bicycling.
