Fat Tuesday: Mardi Gras Feast
Shake your beads! Slip on your mask! Rustle your tail feathers! We're serving up a feast New Orleans style, serenaded with traditional songs by a son of that city -- the good minstrel Featherbeard -- at HM157 in Lincoln Heights on Tuesday, February 12.
We're making our favorite New Orleans foods for Fat Tuesday, a.k.a. Mardi Gras, the last day of feasting before Lent begins. We'll even have a king cake -- tradition holds that if your slice has the hidden prize, you'll be crowned king or queen!
All-Vegan Menu:
Jambalaya with Aubergine Andouille and Cashew Shrimp Fried Green Cherry Tomato Po' Boy Shorties Smoky Red Beans Collard Greens Baked Grits with Cheese and Herbs Jackfruit BBQ Pulled Pork Poached Winter Pears in Pomegranate Sauce Chicory Coffee King Cake Glitter Mask Craft Activity
Our Fat Tuesday feast also commemorates the three-year anniversary of the Tuesday Dinners -- now known as the Urban Dinner Socials. Our local/organic, healthy-eating, community-building project began, appropriately, at the HM157 Creative Community Center in Lincoln Heights. We return to our roots to celebrate a great project and its founding partner.
Eat well, meet friends, make art: Decorate Mardi Gras masks with us between courses -- we'll supply all the glittery tools you'll need.

Urban Dinner Socials: Come dine with us on Sundays and check out our vegan, organic, local, experimental traveling gastropub!
Why dinner? You'll sit down with a stranger and get up with a friend at our community table. Come dine with some of the nicest people in L.A.!
Why vegan? Our inclusive cuisine welcomes everyone. Not only is it vegan, we can make it gluten-free/soy-free/corn-free, you name it.
Why local? Supporting a neighborhood farm* means eating healthy, pure, sustainably grown food. It also means a reduced carbon footprint, increased independence for our local economy, and reduced reliance on non-local resources.
Why experimental? Vegan and raw vegan cuisine is the new Wild West for food lovers. We have the most fun pioneering and helping invent this cuisine!
*The primary produce supplier for the Urban Dinner Socials is Whittier Backyard Farms, a small start-up farm group in Whittier, CA.
