The Last Days of Judas Iscariot
The Last Days of Judas Iscariot is a powerful courtroom drama which takes place in Purgatory...parading a cast of characters that includes Jesus, Satan, Pontius Pilate, Mother Teresa, a couple apostles, and of course, Judas to name a few. The play is in one moment hysterically funny, and in the next, poignantly heart-wrenching.  For us, it is a play about perception and speaks to all of our trials...ultimately it is about humanity!  Will Judas be redeemed?  Will he remain damned for all time?

Professional Actress Dee Smith has confirmed that she is producing an AEA production of Stephen Adly Guirgis's play, THE LAST DAYS OFJUDAS ISCARIOT at The Victory Theatre in BurbanK. Smith is best known for playing the role of Ellis in the Festival Film, ALL OUT, which earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the Texas Black Film Festival. She also co-starred in the highly touted American Premiere of THE IMAGINARY LIFE OF THE STREET SWEEPER, AUGUST G last year at Casa 0101 Theatre in Los Angeles.

Also announced as attached to the project are Patrick Riviere (OPA!, FAMILY DINNER) who will make his West Coast Directing debut, and actor Robert Walters (Judas) In addition to his acting, Riviere was the first Industry Professional Liaison for the Undergraduate Drama Department at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts; Education Director for Second Stage Theatre and Artistic Director of The Emerging Artist Project, Inc, and All Seasons Theatre Company. He was also the Associate Director for the Hudson Riverfront Performing Arts Center and has directed for KJK Productions, Artpark Repertory Theatre and many years for PIE Story Theatre in New York and Chicago. Walters has just finished starring in the hit show "Two Cosmic Brothers Unshackle Mother Earth" at Zombie Joe's Underground Theatre and was also recently seen in the series "Crackhorse Presents"  The play is slated to open March 1, 2013 and will run for six weeks at The Victory Theatre.

PRAISE FOR THE LAST DAYS OF JUDAS ISCARIOT
AT THE VICTORY THEATRE CENTER

"Rest assured, much like any group of artists who take on the Gatling gun task of laying out so complex and yet so simple a premise, the actors herein take up their torches with just the right voracity you'd hope they would, and the story leaves you brimming with a lot to talk about at the diner afterwards."
"I have faith in the Victory's Judas Iscariot.  A play so well-executed as is done here doesn't come along that often  and it's a rare rose that grows through the cracks in a town paved with so many studio lots. Go see it. It will drum up more questions in you than answers, I promise. It may even lead you back to yourself just a little. And in the end, isn't that what life and art are really all about?"
- Patrick Cronen, THEATERMANIA

"If you enjoy biting satire, sharp-witted writing, have a tendency to question prevailing truths and want to be deeply moved to the core of your being all at once, then this show is for you."
"The energy and raw talent of the cast drives the production, and there isn't a dull moment on this stage."
- Jenny Worman, REVOLUTIMES

Enjoyable and accessible to people of faith & atheists alike, it boldly holds up a mirror to the audience challenging everyone present to deal with the stark reflection of who we are as a society/culture and as individualsin a way that is both humorous and profoundly moving. Patrick Riviere's direction and the actors' performances are TOP NOTH---virtuosic!  And the ending was just sublime; you could have easily heard a pin drop in therethe kind of breathless silence that occurs every now & then with live theater that just makes your hair stand on end.  I could go on and on.  But get over to the Victory and see for yourself.
- Jonathan Kupper, PASSCAL

"Director Patrick Riviere tackles Last Days at The Victory Theatre in Burbank with a nimble, lively ensemble of fourteen (often double cast in roles) of which he is also a member."
- Jesse David Corti, STAGE AND CINEMA

"(The play) has great moments of energy and passion It will make you think about your faith and remember your upbringing and education about religion it is worth seeing just for the wonderful arguments and debates about religion, faith and God himself."
- Lorenzo Marchessi, NOHO ARTS

"The remarkable thing about this work is that it is totally irreverent yet deeply religious at times. Told in the current vernacular, the dialogue is smartly written, which the large cast, several in dual roles, delivers with relish."
- Ingrid Wilmot, WILLCALL
