Contemporary Art Music Premier Recital at Tree of Life UU Congregation
McHenryLongtime friends and musical colleagues, Forrest Ransburg and John Urban will perform their first collaborative program together as part of the launch of their contemporary ensemble, AMP in an immersive setting at Tree of Life Unitarian Universalist Congregation, a 5603 Bull Valley Road in McHenry, on Saturday, October 21 at 7:30 pm. Forrest Ransburg is a Chicago based performer and composer who strives to bring new sounds and experiences to his audiences that engage them in unexpected ways. Active as a flutist, vocalist, keyboardist, and electronic musician, Ransburg specializes in music that has yet to dry on the page as well as masterworks of the baroque and classical eras. He is the Founder and Director of the musical activism group Rattle the Walls, the contemporary ensemble AMP, and is the Music Director at Tree of Life Unitarian Universalist Congregation. His premier Rattle the Walls concert last February drew the largest attendance of any performance ever hosted by Tree of Life. John Urban is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music at Indiana University in piano, where he is also an associate instructor. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Canada, and in Europe. He is the Artistic Director and co-founder of RiverSong Music Festival in Galena, Illinois. Other members of this budding AMP ensemble will join the duo throughout the evening. The program will feature works of Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Eve Bulgarian, Alex Temple, and others. Proceeds will benefit Compassion4Campers, Tree of Lifes signature social service program for the McHenry County homeless population. It is part of an ongoing commitment by the Congregation linking the arts to social justice.
