Utah 1 in 3: Stories of Domestic Violence 2017
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Join us in solidarity and support of survivors and the Utah Domestic Violence Coalition for an evening of storytelling featuring the personal narratives of those impacted by domestic violence in our community.
This event is an opportunity to raise awareness of the fact that intimate partner violence is a preventable public health issue in Utah, and that free, confidential help is available 24/7 through the member programs of the Utah Domestic Violence Coalition.
Storytelling is one of the most effective means we have to relate to and learn from one another, and these particular stories will encourage us to not only feel empathy, but also to think critically and take action, furthering this critical conversation in our home state.
Hosted by Giuliana Serena of The Bee. Curated by Giuliana Serena & Narrative Consultant Nan Seymour.

What does "Utah 1 in 3" mean?
The UDVC's "Utah 1 in 3" campaign is raising awareness that intimate partner violence is a preventable public health issue in Utah, and that free, confidential help is available 24/7 through their member programs.
Who is UDVC?
The Utah Domestic Violence Coalition (UDVC) is a non-government 501c3 organization representing a team of victim service providers working to serve survivors of domestic and sexual violence across Utah for over 30 years. Their mission: Creating a state where domestic and sexual violence are intolerable.
Utah currently has no dedicated state funding to support survivor services or DV prevention. Consequently, resources are limited but help is always available: Each year, UDVC member programs provide over 100,000 nights of emergency shelter to men, women and children who are survivors of intimate partner violence in Utah. Our team answers over 43,000 crisis calls each year.
Looking for help?
If you or someone you love is a victim (or is believed to be a victim of domestic violence), call the Utah Domestic Violence Coalition hotline "LINKline" at 1-800-897-LINK (5465) where trained Victim Advocates answer calls confidentially, connecting people with resources and safety in their communities. You can also visit udvc.org.
