GIFTS OF LOVE: THE WORDS AND MUSIC OF STEPHEN SCHWARTZ
GIFTS OF LOVE: THE WORDS AND MUSIC OF STEPHEN SCHWARTZ, a benefit concert featuring premiere talent from the musical theatre world, including Terron Brooks, Dan Callaway, Louise Marie Cornillez, Palmer Davis, Tal Fox, Dianne Fraser, Julie Garnye, Juliana Hansen, Dennis Kyle, Kelly Lester, James C. Mulligan and Joanne O'Brien. Led by Musical Directors Mitch Kaplan and Valerie Taylor with Scott Olsen on Bass and Denise Fraser on Drums, the event will be hosted by TRUE BLOOD's Carolyn Hennesy. One performance only on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the famed Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood: 6725 Sunset Blvd. just east of Highland. Doors open at noon for a sumptuous brunch/lunch buffet. Entertainment (suitable for all ages) will begin at 1PM. $50 per person for food and entertainment (tax and gratuity included; full no-host bar also available.)
Academy Award and Grammy Award winner Stephen Schwartz had the distinction of having three hit shows running simultaneously on Broadway with GODSPELL, PIPPIN and THE MAGIC SHOW. He wrote/co-wrote the scores for WORKING, THE BAKER'S WIFE, RAGS, CHILDREN OF EDEN and Broadway's biggest blockbuster, WICKED, as well as songs for the films BUTTERFLIES ARE FREE, POCAHONTAS, THE PRINCE OF EGYPT, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME and ENCHANTED. He is currently at work on the score for the Broadway musical HOUDINI to star Hugh Jackman.
All proceeds will benefit both campuses of Summit View School's Musical Theatre Program. Summit View is dedicated to educating young people with learning differences.
