Who's Afraid of Climate, Equity and Women?
We need you to become engaged with the womens climate movement in Washington, a movement thats going to accelerate us into a clean energy future now.

Which do you think is more difficult: talking about climate change or gender equity? How about race?

They can all be overwhelming and contentious. And there are so many barriers to making progress on any one of the issues. Maybe youre not sure if it even matters if our climate scientists or politicians are women or women of color. Maybe you care about both the environment and equity, but whatif anythingdo they have to do with each other?

Can environmentalists and diverse feminists work together?
We CAN learn from research connecting diverse women and climate change.
We CAN learn from the experience of women of color and labor in the environmental sector.
We CAN make progress on gender, racial, and economic equity and transition to a clean energy economy.
Washington Women CAN, and we will do it together with your help.

Our moderator for the evening, Kimberly Larson, Director of Communications and Marketing for Climate Solutions, will be engaging a panel of these incredible climate feministas to address these questions and more:

Belinda Chin is the Recreation Program Coordinator for Sustainable Operations, City of Seattle, where she leads equity initiatives. Belinda is a RAY Conservation Fellow, a former National Park Ranger, and the founder of the Environmental Professionals of Color. Belinda is a Climate Reality Leader.

Barbara Clabots is an interdisciplinary analyst in gender and the environment. Barbara was the first to document the impact of women on marine protected areas and recently presented a gender analysis of three local climate action plans at the Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference.

Beth Doglio is the Washington State Representative to the 22nd legislative district and campaign director for Climate Solutions new 100% Clean campaign. Beths experience includes years of community organizing with nonprofits like Washington Conservation Voters, the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League, and Audubon Washington.

Patty Glick, National Wildlife Federation expert on climate change adaptation and has worked on the issue of climate change for more than 25 years. Patty is a Climate Reality Leader. The World Conservation Union (IUCN) named Patty Outstanding Woman Working on Climate Change.

Amelia Marchand is the Water Regulatory Specialist for the Colville Confederated Tribes. Amelias work includes advising on climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives, facilitating public involvement in public review processes, and education outreach focusing on climate and environmental justice. Amelia is a Climate Reality Leader.

Please join us on the evening of October 12 at The Riveter, a fabulous new co-working space for women on Capitol Hill. Expect great wine, splendid food, remarkable women, and a clear understanding of what you can do to move forward the women's climate movement in Washington.

Women (cis and trans) and their allies welcome.
