PANGEA presents, Hans Pieter Herman, THE FLYING DUTCHMAN (no Wagner allowed)
Hans Pieter tells anecdotes and sings his most beloved songs - from both classical and theatrical repertoire - all relating to his world travels. Flying from one country to the next this Dutchman takes you from the wet poetic shimmer of the San Marco Square in Venice to the dry burning hot dessert of Qatar. Mishaps and thrills include food stamps in Moscow, raw chicken in Madrid, and a freshly painted stage set for Don Giovanni -still wet during the show! Accompanied by Brian Holman, whos ambition is to one day conduct the complete works of Wagner, this flying Dutchman stays far away from the oeuvre of the big nosed German composer(after all the show is only one hour long!!!).
Versatile Dutch baritone Hans Pieter Herman began his musical studies at the conservatory in his hometown, Amsterdam. Supported by Dutch government funding and on full scholarship he continued his vocal and performing studies at Northwestern University where he graduated with honors in voice and opera performance. He attended master classes at the Britten-Pears school in the UK, and was a young artist at the Ravinia festival. While singing opera in Moscow, Spain, Italy, France and Holland he also frequently presents concerts featuring the great American songbook. Hans Pieter has given many acclaimed classical recitals, while also appearing in the Dutch national tours of A Little Night Music and She Loves Me. He won the Music Award Competition in Chicago, singing Schubert, and was a prize winner of the Concours Alliance Francaise, singing the repertoire of Celine Dion and Charles Trenet. Among others, he has worked with: Joan Sutherland, Galina Vishnevskaya, Benjamin Luxon, Christoph von Dohnányi, Ira Siff and Randolph Mickelson. He was a member of the faculty at the 2014 International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv and teaches voice at Canto Vocal Programs in Croatia, and in Les Maîtres Sonneurs Opera studio in France.

Downtown's intimate supper-club Pangea is the ultimate in alt, playing home to some of the best in alt cabaret. The New York Times recently called it a bohemian oasis not unlike the fabled Max's Kansas City from days gone by."
