Eugenie Jones Sings Ella Fitzgerald
Collective Visions Gallery is hosting a very special performance of a hometown artist who is making a name for herself on the national jazz stage. The Eugenie Jones Jazz Quartet will perform, at the gallery's downtown Bremerton location at 331 Pacific Avenue, October 21st from 7 to 9 pm.
A Jazz Week Review top-50 artist and the first vocalist to be awarded Earshot Jazz NW Recording of the Year, Eugenie Jones is described as possessing, "A voice that covers words like pieces of silk covering precious stones." Seasoned by years of steady work following the release of her first album in 2013, and her 2015 release that enabled her to win the Golden Ear Award for Vocalist of the Year, the national performing artist displays the rhythmic authority, emotional insight, and melodic innovation of an artist who can hold her own in any company.
For this Bremerton appearance Jones will share songs from the Ella Fitzgerald songbook in honor of Fitzgerald's 100th birthday in her own inimitable style. Jones will share tunes popularized by the irrefutable First Lady of Song and the Queen of Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald. Eugenie will sing and scat her way vivaciously through Great American Songbook selections while also drawing listeners inside original straight-ahead tunes that have earned her recognition as a cleverly gifted lyricist and authentic jazz vocalist.
