Plus - Joe Powers, tango harmonica virtuoso joins us. He will play on Friday and Sunday nights.
Igor Polk joins us with his tango book "Twist Forms) and short presentation.

The Hawaii Tango Marathon 2018 will be held at The Aloha DanceSport Center conveniently located between downtown Honolulu and Waikiki/Ala Moana.

Two great dance floors, special presentations, midnight snacks and refreshment, even massage therapists.
Instead of the Friday Night Sunset Fireworks Cruise option we are putting our feelers for a snorkel excursion on early afternoon on Saturday. If this interests you please - contact me at islatango@gmail.com
The price of the cruise will remain the same ($20) and will include snorkel gear, cruise, and beverages. You provide your own transport to your respective lodgings.
The catamaran can take up to 40 persons.
There will also be a pre-marathon Milonga on Thursday night 1/25 from 8-11pm, and a post marathon Milonga on Monday 1/29 at the Honolulu Club Lounge, 932 Ward Avenue. These are pay-at-the-door optional events which are not included in the Tango Marathon.
Attendance will be capped at 150 persons and we will try to keep gender-balance in mind.
We will provide food and soft drink beverages each night. Wine and other beverages are Byo.
Other added attractions are the special presentations - a musicality A/V lecture by Murat Erdemsel, who will host Deejay Saturday night from 9pm to midnight. At 11pm, Murat will describe his "Making Magic in Silence" a non-verbal milonga shift from 11pm to midnight.
On Sunday, Akiyoshi & Noriko will do a presentation on the finer points of "Dancing to DiSarli".
Mariano Bejarano will give a class on the musicality of tango orchestras.
Jorge Torres will give a class on how to dance with his slick salon style in crowded spaces.

Bring Aloha Wear for Friday night. Fridays in Hawaii are typically called "Aloha Friday". Friday will have opening ceremonies and introductions of our special celebrities that are actually here to have fun just like you...it's not about classes, but enjoying tango with friends from all over the world.
Dress themes:
Friday - "Aloha Friday Floral" dress in tropical colors
Saturday - "Glitter & Bling" dress up in your finest
Sunday - "1940s Gangsters & Flappers" attire
We will offer performances on Sunday night; real dancing as in the salon, not staged.
For hotel accommodations I recommend The Ambassador Hotel Waikiki which has good rates.

The nearest hotel are the Pagoda Hotel, a bit dated but near the shopping center, also the Ala Moana Hotel next to the shopping center, also in Waikiki, the Ambassador Hotel Waikiki has good prices, as mentioned above.
Also, AirBnB Oahu has incredible rates even for unshared units - you can also find places with room for four or more if you like traveling as a group.

Pimon Martel will offer her Turquoise line of mens tango shoes. Igor Polk offers his new book Tango Twists and will give a presentation. Plus, licensed massage therapist will be on site every night
We will also provide food and beverages each night, all night long!
Boat Cruise Waikiki
Please let me know if you might be interested in a chartered boat or snorkel cruise off the shores of beautiful waters of Waikiki. We have the exclusive opportunity to charter the Aukai catamaran for our tango marathon guests.
