Mindfulness Hub - Cultivating Mindfulness in Education
This three hour evening workshop for teachers to develop their own mindfulness practice and to reflect how to apply this in their lives, their classroom and across their school/university and community, using the approaches in the newly released Plum Village book Happy Teachers Change the World: A guide to cultivating mindfulness in education, co-authored by Thich Nhat Hanh and Katherine Weare.
Happy Teachers Change the World explores the Thich Nhat Hanh/Plum Village approach to mindfulness in education. It spans the whole age range, from preschool through higher education.
The teachings, guidance, practices and illustrations from practising teachers are thoroughly practical to implement, and are grounded in the everyday world of schools, colleges, and universities.
The unique approach with its emphasis on interconnection and relationship, embodied practice, transformation and mindfulness as permeating all aspects of our personal and professional lives, provides an invaluable addition and balance to the mindfulness as a curriculum intervention approach which is currently dominating the field, and will have something to convey both to those new to mindfulness in education and those who are already involved.
Workshop leaders: Brother Phap Lai, Sister True Dedication and Brother Phap Linh all grew up in the UK and are Dharma Teachers in the Plum Village tradition, trained directly by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh over the last fifteen years. We are delighted that Professor Katherine Weare, co-author of the newly released Plum Village book 'Happy Teachers Change the World' will also be present.
Cost includes copy of Happy Teachers Change the World (retail £16.99).
