2017 Bloomingdale House Tour hosted by the Bloomingdale Civic Association
The Bloomingdale Civic Association invites you to our biennial House Tour and Reception: "Bloomingdale: Victorian Secrets and Modern Truths"
Our schedule for the day is the following:
10:30am-4:00pm- Tour Check-in (required )at Tyber Creek, 84 T St, NW, Washington, DC 20001
11:00am-3:00pm- Workshops available for ticket holders (details available below) 1:00pm-5:00pm- Tour Homes
4:30pm-7:30pm- Arts & Letters Reception at Old Engine 12 1626 North Capitol St NW The day will begin with a multi-media lecture about the history of Bloomingdale's architecture, followed by interactive design workshops with Bloomingdale designers and architects on the topics of interior design, landscaping challenges of urban living, and historic row houses.
The self-guided tour of homes begins at 1:00pm and involves more than just viewing some of Bloomingdale's most distinguished renovated century-old homes and historic sites: The House Tour is a celebration of the re-invention, dynamism and diversity of this urban village.
End the day at Bloomingdale's Arts & Letters Reception hosted by the historic Old Engine 12 Restaurant, where neighborhood artists, writers, and musicians will be featured. Attendees can sign-up for the following workshops during ticket purchase or tour check-in. Seating will be limited.
11:00am- History of Bloomingdale's Architecture Town Houses Then and Now: Multi-media lecture presented by Ahmet Kilic, AIA, LEED.
11:00am- Bloomingdale-Envisioning Our Greatest Potential Through Urban Design presented by M. Jennifer Harty, AIA, LEED.
12:00pm- How to Use Color, Pattern and Light presented by Zach Sherif, a DC based internationally renowned lighting and interior designer. 12:00pm- Landscaping in Small Spaces presented by Molly Scott, Registered Landscape Architect, MD/VA. Principal/Owner at Molly Scott Exteriors, LLC. 1:00pm- Cool Spaces-Hot Wallcoverings presented by Tynesia Hand-Smith, the principal designer for Design 36ixty Interiors.
1:00pm- Container Gardening at its Best given by Molly Scott, Registered Landscape Architect, MD/VA. Principal/Owner at Molly Scott Exteriors, LLC.
Tickets may be purchased locally at Windows Café.
Advanced Tickets Sales end at midnight Thursday 10/26.
Ticket Price Day of Event - $35, Reception only $10.
House Tour proceeds are primarily dedicated to the BCA's Scholarship Fund for students who either attend or graduated from Bloomingdale serving high schools and/or reside in Bloomingdale. BCA is a 501(c)(3) organization.
