Sean Rowe at Stella
Stella Music Series Kickoff with Singer Songwriter Sean Rowe
Singer and songwriter Sean Rowe's rather astonishing singing voice evokes the sound of the ages. His big rumbling baritone bears traces of John Lee Hooker, Greg Brown, Wilson Pickett, and others, though it is utterly unaffected. Rowe hails from Troy, New York. In his teens, he discovered the blues of Muddy Waters and Hooker as well as the soul music of Marvin Gaye and Ray Charles. He began playing guitar and learning songs by virtually every artist he admired -- and then some. By the time he began playing the local bar scene at 18, he had amassed enough original and cover material to perform four one-hour sets per night. (Billboard)
In addition to touring nationally and internationally, Sean has spent much time traveling the country performing in peoples living rooms for house shows. "Its like I'm some kind of a bearded salesman, he says, going door to door but instead of vacuum cleaners I'm selling all these feelings that come with the songs. Its a really intense experience for listeners to have me there in their homes playing. They're not used to having a stranger show up, play music, drink their beer and eat their food. But I think that's how were supposed to be. It only feels strange because we've made it that way."
This show is very much a house show, one you will be not soon forget!
