Magnolia Mixology
Gather fresh herbs and learn how to make two signature craft cocktails.
Gather fresh herbs and spices from San Francisco Botanical Garden and then learn from a master mixologist how to create tantalizing concoctions of Magnolias and premium organic spirits in our winter Magnolia Mixology class.
Every student is given a complete set of tools and a work station to actually make their own drinks (and drink them; therefore, all classes are 21 and over only).
Learn the basics of balance, flavor and beauty from Master Mixologist H. Joseph Ehrmann, owner of the renowned Elixir bar. You'll mix and sip your own two craft cocktails: The Strybing White named after our iconic magnificent snowy magnolia and the M Zen whose namesake is the critically endangered Magnolia zenii.
After crafting these delectable cocktails, nibble some savories and sip your own wonderful concoctions and compare notes.
About the instructor, H. Joseph Erhman: "From wine cocktails to the greening of the bar, there's hardly a San Francisco cocktail trend that H. doesn't have a hand in. "As the Proprietor of Elixir, the second oldest saloon location in San Francisco, H., as he is known, has been influential in the resurgence of cocktail culture locally, nationally and abroad. He was named Best American Bartender in 2010 and his saloon has been listed as one of the "Best Bars in America" in numerous publications. As Co-Founder of San Francisco Cocktail Week and Director of The Boothby Center for the Beverage Arts, he strives to educate the masses on the history, techniques and cultural significance of the cocktail.
