Gruesome Playground Injuries
Gruesome Playground Injuries charts the intersection of two lives using scars, wounds and calamities as the milestones to explore why people hurt themselves and one another. Doug and Kayleen continue to both attract and reject each other in this compelling work by Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Rajiv Joseph.
From the time they meet at the age of eight in the school nurse's office until they grow painfully into adulthood, Doug and Kayleen compare the physical and emotional wounds they inflict on themselves and each other. At turns tender, dramatic, and darkly comic, Gruesome Playground Injuries asks us why we are not more careful with the things we love the most.
The play is directed by Mill Valley director and theatre educator Julianna Rees. It stars two Tam High Drama alumni, Isabelle Ellingson and Finn Haney. After studying theater at Conservatory Theatre Ensemble at Tam High, Isabelle graduated from University of North Carolina School of the Arts where she studied acting. Finn will be starting his second year at the Cal Arts acting conservatory in the fall.
The play will be presented in the beautiful courtyard garden at Studio 333 in Sausalito, Ca. Dress for a Sausalito summer evening.
