THIS YEAR'S THEME: NATIVE PLANTS IN MODERN GARDENS AND LANDSCAPES
HORTICULTURE SYMPOSIUM IN BBG AUDITORIUM AT 9AM AND 1PM:
-DESIGNING FOR PLACE: Merging Art & Ecology in Regional Landscapes
Speaker: Darrel Morrison, FASLA, a longtime advocate of using native vegetation in landscape and restoration work, former Dean of the Schl. of Environmental Design at the Univ. of GA. He continues to design and teaches part-time at Columbia University in NY.
-PLANT COMMUNITIES FOR HEALTHY GARDENS
Speaker: Roy Diblik discusses underutilized native plants and communities that have great functional and aesthetic value for gardens.  Roy will also talk about his "know maintenance" approach to planting and maintaining mixed borders used at Northwind Perennial Farm in Burlington, WI, recently featured in Martha Stewart Living.
-CONNECTING COMMUNITIES: A Discussion of the Role of Native Plants in Today's Urban Landscape with panelists Darrel Morrison; Roy Diblik; Uli Lorimer, curator of BBG's Native Flora Garden; and Jody Payne, curator of NYBG's Native Plant and Rock Gardens.

PALM HOUSE TRADE SHOW: 9 AM -4 PM
FREE admission all day. 50 exhibitors representing the NYC metro region's premier specialty nurseries and wholesale growers, pottery distributors, horticultural suppliers, public gardens, and greening organizations. Exhibitor list in formation  check www.metrohort.org for updates.
