IRT Presents- G45 Production's Light Bulb Reading Series
IN RESIDENCE: June 27- July 2, 2017
Over the course of a one week residency, four young playwrights will collaborate with G45 Productions to develop their own new works. Through intensive workshopping, rehearsal, and feedback sessions with actors and artistic consultants from the G45 ensemble, the playwrights will develop their voices, build collaboration skills, and ultimately refine their scripts and their storytelling. The residency will culminate in a series of readings at IRT that will be open to the public.
The playwrights who will be showcased are from a variety of backgrounds, as are their works. Some pieces are in their infancy, some are years into development, but each one tells an extremely powerful, incisive story.

G45 Productions is an artistic collective made up of 25 young artists from New York City, all recent graduates of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts. This marks the 3rd annual summer season for the company, bringing G45 members together to produce diverse, actor-driven theatrical works. Their mainstage production last summer, Where Were Born by Lucy Thurber, had a sold out run at the Flea Theater, and their New Works Development Series at IRT has partnered with the brilliant India Kotis for the second year in a row to workshop her play, Here Be Monsters.

PLEASE DONATE TO IRT THEATER
IRT Theater is a grassroots laboratory for independent theater and performance in New York City, providing space and support to a new generation of artists. Tucked away in the old Archive Building in Greenwich Village, IRTs mission is to build a community of emerging and established artists by creating a home for the development and presentation of new work. Some of the artists we have supported include Young Jean Lee, Reggie Watts and Mike Daisey.
This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts and The Nancy Quinn Fund, a project of ART-NY.
