Crosswinds: Global Jazz Journey (formerly Blue Balkan) @ Tucker Farm Center in Calistoga
Formerly the Blue Balkan Ensemble, this new revived group features the original Blue Balkan master violinist, Eric Golub along with the exciting marimba player, Tommy Kesecker. Vince Delgado, the great interpreter of the Middle Eastern percussion, along with the seasoned, master bassist Jeff Chambers and his rhythm partner, the swinging, talented 19-year-old drummer, Tim Angulo, create a stimulating rhythm team.
Larry Vuckovich has revived the original Blue Balkan ensemble expanding the repertoire into an even more diverse global approach. Besides the Balkan ethnic, Middle Eastern repertoire, the ensemble includes the global elements of North Africa, Russia, South American boleros, Cubans salsa, tango jazz, jazz funk and swinging American classics of Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane contemporary - on the edge jazz.
