TNMOT AZTRO, a Hartford-based performance art and dance installation company featuring artists from Connecticut and beyond, will perform the fifth installment of The Projector Series on June 22nd, 23rd, 24th Performances at 7pm and 9pm each night. The series are a set of performance and installation works blending dance, live digitally composed music, and Film based visual media. Presented in collaboration with Vox Populi and Little Berlin.
The Projector Series 1.5 utilizes a combination of light, sound, spatial manipulation, the human form, and movement as modes of inquiry and engagement between audience and performer, as well as the larger community beyond. Thematic concerns center around repetition, time, critical thought, media-created leadership and influence, rhetoric, technology, control, sexual energy and dogma.
Choreographer Arien Wilkerson notes that, The Projector Series 1.5 which will be performed at Vox Populi, is driven by the concept of sensory overload, in which our brains and bodies are stimulated through receiving information from multiple sources simultaneously. The projectors around the room transform the physical boundaries of the space: gallery walls become windows and mirrors and vortexes, looking outward at the world beyond, looking inward at the performance.
The Projector Series 1.5 is the first live Philadelphia performance by a Hartford-based performance art and dance installation to be held at Vox Populi. The performance will take place in Voxs Blackbox and also feature a talk on June 21st 7pm at Little Berlin hosted by Eric Preisendanz, which is free and open to the public.
