Rope Running Out by Raf Antonio
Toronto, ON--Rope Running Out is the world premiere of a new play by Raf Antonio staged in the lemonTree {studio} at King and Bathurst from May 28th - June 10th, 2017.
The ties of Nacio and Félix's love have begun to fray. Evolution is necessary for their non-physical sexual partnership - but something holds Nacio back. When a footloose drifter from his past appears, Nacio must make a decision: stay bound to the world he knows or let go completely.
This unflinching new work is sexy, intimate, and marks the world premiere for award winning playwright Raf Antonio.

Directed by lemonTree's Artistic Producer, Indrit Kasapi (MSM [men seeking men], six BroadwayWorld Toronto Nominations), with dramaturgy by multiple Dora Winner Marjorie Chan, it features an all queer cast; Augusto Bitter (Our Town, Theatre Rusticle/Buddies), multidisciplinary performer Chy Ryan Spain (Monomyths, FADO/Progress) and introducing Allie MacDonald (Pure, CBC). This production marks the first time lemonTree will produce a show inside our downtown {studio}, which will be beautifully transformed by production designer Joseph Pagnan (MSM [men seeking men], 52 Pick-up) and sound designer, Deanna Choi (Alien Creature, TPM) with stunning composition by Dora Award winner Dustin Peters (Malcolm by James Kudelka).
This roving performance moves between various rooms in our venue, inviting the limited audience (maximum 25) to follow the performers from scene to scene. Seating is minimal, the audience can choose how to best experience the performance as they follow the action (seated, standing, crouching, lying on the floor, etc).
Rope Running Out has been developed at the Soulpepper Playwrights Circle 2015 and in Cahoots Theatre's Hot House Creators Unit 2015-2016. Raf Antonio acknowledges the support of the Toronto Arts Council through their Grants to Individual Playwrights 2016.
