WORKSHOP SCHEDULE: ($15 admission, 1 hour workshops)
10:30 am STUART FUCHS Rockabilly Go cat go!!! Rock and roll ukulele is not so much about technique as it is about an attitude. This workshop is about shedding inhibitions and letting your inner rock and roller out. In this workshop, Stuart Fuchs adaptsRockabilly & Rock n Roll guitar styles adapted for Ukulele. Youll play classic songs and learn the style of Rockabilly rhythm & lead playing in the styles of Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Eddie Cochrane, The Beatles, Elvis, and more. Stuart orchestrates the group into a fun multi-part band.
11:00 am FRETS HALLIGAN- Intro to Uke, Meet Your New Friend Here's your opportunity to get a taste of the ukulele and walk out strumming! Loaner ukuleles will be available for those folks who are ukeless. If you have one pleasefeel free to bring it.
1:15 pm JEFF WEINBERGER Easy and Practical Music Theory for Ukulaliens Workshop with Jeff Weinberger. In this adventure, we explore chord theory in its simplest form to aid us in song learning, playing by ear and songwriting. Certain chord progressions crop up over and over in popular and classical music. Understand these and thousands of songs become easy and playable without song sheets, Youtube tutorials or tablature. Free your mind and your uke will follow!
3:30 pm RACHEL MANKE Finesse and Flourish for Fun Youve learned all of those usual suspect chords. You want to spice up the tune a little. Well go over a few things that you can do to make your performance pop more. Inspired by Roy Smecks saying, Vary your strokes!.
