The Art of the Ballad - Lyricism and Melodic Beauty in Jazz
Aria Award winning Andrew Speight joins Larry Vuckovich in a unique Bay Area presentation where ballads will be performed in waltz time, bolero and bossa rhythms, walking swing style, and also in slower romantic style. The Art of the Ballad concept will be exemplified where ballads in different formats will also give various forms of energy and momentum retaining a romantic mood. Andrew and Larry will showcase the lyricism and melodic beauty in jazz of the great ballad interpreters such as Lester Young, Ben Webster, Stan Getz, Brew Moore, Bill Evans, Tommy Flanagan, Barry Harris, and other greats. The excellent rhythm team of Mike Zisman, bass and Jimmy Gallagher, drums will be on board.
